An Indoor Playhouse Made of Felt!

A playhouse made of felt in the foster children's bedroom!

Fully equipped with a kitchen, table and chairs, and toys.

A nice large tree for plenty of shade outside.

This was a Christmas present for the kids. Many hours of fun!

Recycled Crayons

Do you have a lot of broken crayons like I did?

Why not make recycled crayons?

Fill foil muffin tins with broken crayon pieces. I also made crayons using paper bathroom cups (they won't burn at such low temps) but they did melt a little to the muffin pan so make sure you use an old one. Putting the wax in letter or shape tins would be cute also.

Melt in oven at 250 degrees or lower for 20-30 minutes or until melted. Just keep an eye on them.

Now you have new crayons.

You can also mix colors to make multicolored crayons or unique colors.

Have Fun!

Cloth Letters

The kids love these! They are helping with letter recognition or for pot holders in the play kitchen.

I cut an alphabet panel apart and layered with fleece and blue polka dot fabric on the back.

I threw the squares in the washer and dryer to make the edges ragged.

Baby Shower Gift

I just finished a baby shower gift for tomorrow with the help of my husband! I made two baby onesies with the child's initials and a tie. I cut out the initials using my Cricut.

I had to make a run to Hobby Lobby to find fusible webbing. I also made a snuggle blankie using Minky and two pee pee tee pees. I wouldn't know about these; however I've heard they are useful.

I couldn't find a baby gift bag so I decided to sew one. I sewed a bag that velcros on each side. This is a multi purpose bag - carry your diapers and wipes to the bathroom and unvelcro to lay the baby on when changing. This idea came to me halfway through the process of making it so next time I will make the bag a little larger.

Weekend Plans!

I haven't had time to sew in weeks, but this weekend is CRAFT weekend as long as I get my lesson plans done tonight. Cross your fingers! Hobby Lobby is having a sale and rain is in the forecast...perfect conditions for sewing. There are many craft projects on my to do list but I hope to accomplish rice heat therapy bags and bible covers for mother/daughter in time for church on Sunday. Hopefully I will have pictures up soon of the projects!

Homemade Christmas

For those of you that know me, I love my sewing machine. Until I started working again, I would sew until 1 am! I just started sewing this past October and I can't do it enough. I decided that Christmas 09 would be a homemade Christmas. Every man, woman, and child on my list would get a homemade gift made with the sewing machine. When I shared my plan with family, they reminded me that not all people enjoy receiving homemade gifts. That didn't stop me, I wanted to make each person a gift that I thought they would enjoy. So I began, in Ocotber, and finished 2 days before Christmas!!!! But I finished! So here is one of the gifts I gave - crayon holders with a coloring book. I will post more later.
