Hello There...It's Been TOO Long!

My New Kitchen!
Sorry it's been so long since I have posted, but here is my new kitchen. New paint, curtains, and a few other touches.

Three new curtains in adorable, bright fabric.

A scrappy fabric wreath. It doesn't hang here, but I moved it to take a picture.

The color makes me HAPPY! :)

I forgot to take pictures of my newly covered chairs (thanks to my hubby). They are covered in teal polka dot and are so great. I covered two in vinyl also to keep grimey, slimey hands off! I also made a simple quilt to use as a table center piece that I forgot to photograph. Hopefully next time.

Laundry Room: I know some of you have been waiting on my laundry room makeover. Hopefully later in the week (when I tackle the pile of laundry a family of six accumulates) I will take pictures and post. :)

Alphabet on the cabinets!

These are my favorite. We are starting preschool in the kitchen and the kids love to look at the pictures and identify letters.

Toothpick Bridge

What can you do with 700 toothpicks and some wood glue?

How about make a bridge?
This was my husbands final project for his summer class and didn't it turn out great?

He had a little fun with it using the kids toys..

But all fun must end and all the hard work was only appreciated for a few seconds before the bridge was CRUSHED (on purpose of course)!

Some Changes are Coming...

New paint, cute fabric...a new look to come soon!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while...I've been busy! But that doesn't mean I haven't been sewing. I have lots of projects to post on this week.

A bowl of fresh peaches...

a bouquet of fresh Gerber Daisies...

and two precious baby feet...

Just a few of my favorite things!

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Buttercup Bag and Other Volunteer Gifts

This post is a little old, but during volunteer appreciation week at school I made a purse and tissue covers.

I made a Buttercup Bag!

The inside has a small pocket.

And four travel tissue covers with alternating colors on the outside and inside.

Happy Birthday to My Sister!

Today is my sister's birthday and I made her a special gift.
(Ignore the dark, shadowy pictures)

An Amy Butler Swing Bag, checkbook cover, and makeup bag.

I love the big sash which comes off and can be worn!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Fourth of July!

Outfits for the Fourth of July!

I used here for inspiration.

A flag shirt with a blue skirt.

My husband had these old shirts laying around so I cut those up for the fabric (I didn't even have to buy any :)
And I am so happy with the results.

Happy Fourth of July!

Gathered Clutch

My new gathered clutch!

The back!

The fabric matches the baby quilt and bag I am making for my little addition. I thought I needed a clutch to put my goodies in or it could be used for small baby things that might get lost in a diaper bag.

A playhouse made of felt in the foster children's bedroom!

Fully equipped with a kitchen, table and chairs, and toys.

A nice large tree for plenty of shade outside.

Recycled Crayons

Do you have a lot of broken crayons like I did?

Why not make recycled crayons?

Fill foil muffin tins with broken crayon pieces. I also made crayons using paper bathroom cups (they won't burn at such low temps) but they did melt a little to the muffin pan so make sure you use an old one. Putting the wax in letter or shape tins would be cute also.

Melt in oven at 250 degrees or lower for 20-30 minutes or until melted. Just keep an eye on them.

Now you have new crayons.

You can also mix colors to make multicolored crayons or unique colors.

Have Fun!

New Camera!

For my birthday I received a new camera. This new camera had a strap, a boring strap! So I made a strap cover that is much more beautiful.

I used the tutorial from here.

Cloth Letters

The kids love these! They are helping with letter recognition or for pot holders in the play kitchen.

I cut an alphabet panel apart and layered with fleece and blue polka dot fabric on the back.

I threw the squares in the washer and dryer to make the edges ragged.
